November 2001 Newsletter

Greetings, my name is Daniel M. Hoyt and I have been appointed the interim chairman for the Constitution Party of Wisconsin.

For many of you this announcement comes as a surprise so allow me to fill you in on some of the details leading to this event.

In early September Randy Hamby, who had been elected to the chairman position during this past summer's State Convention, was offered a job transfer to Macon, Georgia. The offer was one that Randy could not, in good conscious, refuse and phone calls were made to seek a replacement for him as the State Chair.

At a State Committee meeting on September 15, I was officially nominated and subsequently appointed to fill out the remainder of Randy's term.

I take great honor in this opportunity and will strive to do the job as well as I know Randy would have. To all of you who have received word of this transfer via email, I thank you for your congratulations and offers of support.

As Randy did at the start of his term, I'd like to tell you a little about myself and my plans for moving the Party forward in the next several months.

I am a Christian conservative, Bible believing, "right wing wacko" as a liberal would put it. While I've not studied history in depth I have a keen understanding of where this Country has come from and a desire to see our Republic restored to its Constitutional and Biblical foundations.

To that end, I am committed to growing our State organization through continued support of projects like the County Fair initiative, and by growing local County Party units to head up the grass roots effort of electing local officials to public office.

Personally, I just celebrated my fourth wedding anniversary with my wife Christina and together we have a twenty-month-old son, Isaiah, and a daughter, Tabitha, due around the first of the year.

Now, on to business! If you will look at the letterhead on the other side of this page you will notice that Ed Frami is still listed as the chairman. I point that out so you will notice that, unlike our "big brother" political counterparts, we did not throw away the old letterhead when a new chairman was elected, but chose to use it up as a means of putting your contributions to the best use.

With this letter we are officially out of the old letterhead. Why is that important you might ask? Well, many of the people that I have met, both members and supporters of the CPoW are like-minded individuals. We attend church, listen to or watch Christian programming, and support ministries that we believe in.

As such, many of you are familiar with the "summer slump", a term coined by ministries as they experience decreased giving over the summer months. The Constitution Party of Wisconsin has experienced one of these "summer slumps" and our financial resources are very low.

We need the aid of everyone reading this letter right now to bring our finances into the black.

As I pointed out earlier, your giving is managed very well by the people you have put in place to oversee these funds. We don't waste one penny of your contribution, but like any other organization or household the bills continue to arrive regardless of the income.

We need every one of you to get your checkbook and write out a contribution for twenty dollars and send it back in the enclosed envelope before you go to bed tonight!

Many of you have been generous in the past. Your past support is appreciated and needed once again. Others of you, like myself, give to various worthwhile organizations and it isn't always in your budget to give any more.

I understand this completely, but I also know how easy it is to spend twenty dollars today. I'm asking you to spend those twenty dollars to help support the Constitution Party of Wisconsin. Thank you very much!

Now, on to other business. Believe it or not, the 2002 election year is right around the corner. Doesn't it seem like just yesterday the Nation became intimately familiar with the term "chad"? And to what end? The spending policies of the Republicats are greater than those of Clinton and his Demicans! "Don't ask, don't tell" is still an official policy of the military, and we even have an openly homosexual cabinet member.

Our nation continues to murder more than four thousand unborn, human babies every day for the profit of those who would peddle their lifeless flesh. That sickens me.

The much-touted "tax relief" package of the summer was nothing more than an advance payment on the refund you would have received next year. So for example, instead of a family receiving $2,000 back in 2002, now they will only receive $1,400 - and guess what else?

The I.R.S. wasn't set up to do two refund mailings in a single year, so… The tax relief package actually cost us, the taxpayers, millions of dollars more than the government would have spent on postage alone to send out a letter and additional check!!

What's my point? We have a saying, "To Change Government, Change Your Vote", but what if there's no Constitution Party candidate to vote for?

We need you to start thinking about running for a local office. We need to field candidates for upcoming elections!

We've completed another successful Fair season in which 150 volunteers helped man 45 booths around the State.

Those efforts were for the purpose of getting the Constitution Party name in front of millions of Fair goers across the State of Wisconsin. Now we need those same people to see the Constitution Party name on the ballot in your area.

A little more than a year from now we will come upon another State and National Election Day. Ed Frami will represent the CP on that ballot in his campaign for Secretary of State. Before then many local municipalities and counties will hold elections in April, with those primaries in February, just three months away!

We need to have names on those ballots too! Not just to "show the CP flag" as it were, although those candidates are most welcome to run, we need to elect responsible people to office. People who will make sure initiatives like "Smart Growth" are dealt with in a manner that will respect the rights of landowners, not bureaucrats.

By the way, if you're not familiar with the term "Smart Growth" please go to www.cpow.org and click the link off the home page for more details. It's vital that everyone reading this letter be aware of what big government is trying to do to individual property rights! If you don't have Internet access, check it out at your local library.

If you are one of those people, either someone willing to "show the flag", or someone like me who wants to serve the public with the public interest in mind, contact your local City, Town, or Village clerk and ask what the requirements are to get your name on the ballot in April or November next year.

For more information or to have questions answered, please visit our web site at www.cpow.org, go to the Contacts link and send me an email message. I'll do my best to help you take back our Nation, starting where you live, one vote at a time!

In closing, it would be remiss of me to not comment on the terrorist events that have struck, and will continue to strike, here in our beloved Nation.

On September 11 my heart was broken as I watched the World Trade Center buildings collapse. My Father-In-Law, who as an Army Colonel has ties in the Pentagon, and my wife's friend Tina who works in D.C. brought the events all the more closer to home.

This National tragedy served to bring hundreds of thousands of people to their knees, seeking God's guidance. It gelled the Country behind a unified effort to see justice done to those who perpetrated the events, but at what cost?

While there has been a renewed interest in prayer, I wouldn't call it a "revival". Why should God forgive a Nation who refuses to acknowledge His Sovereignty? His word tells us to "repent" - "to go and sin no more". But we as a Nation continue in our wicked ways.

Now that we've returned to "our normal, daily routine", how many are still praying? The left wing has moved in once again and places are removing their American flag so as not to offend foreigners with a display of "Nationalism". Taking down our Flag offends me!

Lawmakers say we need tighter security and that Americans should be willing to give up some freedoms for our own safety. Does anyone else see this as another grab for our guns? I love this quote by Benjamin Franklin - "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

All said, I think we need to continue praying. Not just for our Nation, but for our enemies, as Christ instructed us.

And we desperately need to elect righteous men to office! I'd rather have Constitutionally correct men with a Biblical worldview sending our boys off to war rather than people concerned more with the cost of a barrel of oil.

I hope you won't forget to write that check for twenty dollars! Do it right now, before you put this letter away. Your financial support is both needed and appreciated.

I look forward to writing more of these letters. I hope you look forward to reading them.

For God and Country,

Daniel M. Hoyt - Interim State Chairman
Constitution Party of Wisconsin
